Oyer and Terminer records are closely related to the criminal records of two other courts: General Quarter Sessions and Justice of the Peace courts. Oyer and Terminer dealt almost exclusively with criminal matters; Quarter Sessions dealt primarily with criminal matters, but occasionally became involved in other legal cases, such as.
